Default engine pulley has play

I took off serpentine belt the other day because my motor has a weird noise at idle. I took it off to check if sound is still there after belt was off. I didn't hear anything. So I changed the tensioner pulley and I noticed the pulley that's on the engine itself also had play side to side. So I pressed in a new bearing and bolted it back up. But it still has play from side to side(or in and out depending on how you want to look at it.) Just wondering if it has a washer that maybe I'm missing that keeps it from having play. Any pics or info would help. It's an 02 completely stock.

Are you talking about the pulley on the crankshaft?

The pullies will have some minor play in them, where you can rock them side to side - idler pulley, and tensioner pulley. It is hard to describe the amount of play that is normal, but there is some present. It should not be excessive enough to cause rubbing on the metal behind areas behind the pullies, but there is a minor amount of movement that can occur if you try to rock it side to side with the belt removed. When the belt is on the pulley it doesn't tend to rock much during operation unless it gets really faulty. The pullies have washers and dust covers , just make sure they are adequately supported and not wobbling excessively.
