Dear fellow s2000 owners and enthusiasts,
Greetings from Dubai! Just a lil’ background…im a Japanese guy living in dubai, driving a 2003 AP1 (keeping it real lol)
At this point, my car is a ‘light tune’ setup….intake, exhaust, shocks….you know, simple stuff. I have always wanted to keep the engine stock.
However, now the time (and mileage) has come where my engine is due for an overhaul…..and now comes the dilemma:
Keep it 2000cc, fully balance the engine, and run it on stock components and ECU….(rev limit 9000rpm)
…or…
Go 2.2, fully balanced, plus cams and such, and run on a tuned ECU…(rev limit 8600rpm)
The engine (and gear box) will be built by a good shop with good reputation, so im not worried about that…
…but would like to hear your opinions on what approach to take
Happy VTEC Days

If you have the budget go 2.2 or 2.4, use rods with arp +625 bolts and rev it to 9k.
The inline pro rods and a new oem honda k24 crank are not that expensive and will hold up at 9k all day every day.

at this time, i have been in touch with a gentleman i know back in japan, Mr. J's racing himself....and he has come up with a engine rebuild menu with the theme "reliable and long lasting" to suite the rather extreme weather conditions of Dubai.
what he has put together as a plan so far is 2.2 with 8600rev limit....upgraded cams and etc etc....fully balanced out engine and gear box (same spec they use for their super-endurance race car)....
not cheap, but im thinking it may be the safer option, considering that in dubai, there arent many high-end honda tuners....
