Default Engine Removal question - specific hoist points

Im almost done removing my motor, all I have to do its pull it with the cherry picker. In the service manual section 5-6 step #27 it shows brackets to attach the chain hoist to.

I have not seen these brackets in my s2k, or any other s2k for that matter. Does anybody have a pic of these or know where I can get ahold of them? And the specific points to attach them to the engine, as the service manual just shows a small picture. Thanks in advance.

[QUOTE=hecash,May 15 2007, 11:43 AM] I don't know anyone who picked their motor that way.

Most of us disconnect the AC, drive train, exhaust, harness (pull from ecu into engine box), unbolt the subframe and lift the car off of the motor.
The transmission is already off, header, exhaust etc.

Hmm Maybe I will try it this way. Can anyone else chime in on this billman, redmx5?

The car is in my garage up on jackstands.

I can see how it would be easy just to lower the subframe and engine down as a whole, I think this would be a good way to do it when the car is on a lift, my car is sitting on jackstands in my garage though, and I dont see how when I lower the subframe and engine down how I am going to get it out underneith the car.

I have a jig that lifts from the two middle spark plug holes, and straps around the intake. You can get some old spark plugs, and weld long bolts on them with loops on the end.

There are some strong attach points:

One threaded hole on the #4 intake runner
One threaded hole in the head, next to the VTEC solonoid

I don't like the one in the head, because the chain will scratch the valve cover.

Thanks Billman,

Is the 2nd mouting point the timing chain tensioner service hole (the one where you pull out the pin with) or is it somewhere different that im not seeing, (I do have a comptech s/c mounting bracket inbetween the vtec selenoid and the head.)

I just figure I will apply some blue painters tape around the valve cover so it wont get scratched hopefully.

Also The front subframe is still lowered from when I pulled the transmission out this morning, is it ok to just let it sit lowered like that, or should I raise it back up?

The second one is where an ETD would be mounted. It is just to the left of the VTEC solonoid on the exhuast manifold side.

It will be easier to pull the engine with the subframe back up. just put it in place with the two middle bolts, leave the four long corner bolts loose 3".
