Better pic:

My engine lift tool, a regular engine lift chain, and a soft hook/motorcycle tie down around the intake, to keep the engine at the proper level.

Some tips....when lowering the engine, be sure to fish the engine harness through the firewall AS you lower the engine. If you try to do it when the engine is in place, it is near impossible and you will surely damage the harness.

-Leave the upper and lower rad hoses attached to the engine. It comes out much cleaner, and makes transferring to the new engine a breeze.

Last time I pulled the engine I left the harness in and just detached all the connectors from the engine. That is really a neat tool you came up with there Billman

bill is right.
the trans is the hardest part.
also make sure all the grounds are disconnected.
other than that.
its easy
one more thing
I just did mine and took it out from the bottom.
so if you can I think that may be easyer than the top if you have a trany jack or something like that
also if the flywheel is off the motor will not balance even so make sure you support it.
You guys were right. Thr tranny was definately the hardest part the rest was just hoses and harnesses. Took a lil more than a day but I got it pulled. NOw I'm just waitin for my shortblock to get here. But I'm dreading putting all those vaccume lines back on correctly. But I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
