Default Engine shims?

Hello I'm still new to owning an S2000.

Here's the breakdown.

My 05 AP2 is in the shop for making a rattle sound at 3k+. The shop first calls and said I destroyed the bearings in the alternator and I need a new one.

I said ok and they installed a new one.
Went the following day to pick the car up after being told it's ready and it starts up just the same as it did before I towed it in and when I reved it to 3k+ the exact sound is still there.

He says that I have 0 tolerance pistons and when you have a thinner head gasket, it'll make that noise. I told him my engine never made that noise before. 3 weeks of it in the shop and I'm being told that the piston is hitting the cylinder head and also needs to find out if this is a 0 balance motor and asked me what shims was used in the block.

I get that the piston is hitting the head but I don't get the rest of it.

Whats the original problem?

Remove your car from that shop. Find someone experienced in S2000's.

I would never take it to that shop again, but that's just me, they obviously don't know a damn thing about this car.

Did they also say you need to replace your muffler bearings and blinker fluid?

The original issue was the rattling from the engine at 3k+

The reason I felt I could trust this shop with my car was he seemed to be very knowledgeable and built a few drag race engines and came recommended as well.

Rattling at 3k sounds like a valve adjustment is needed, post a video of the noise if you can.

He sounds like a V8 drag engine mechanic. Find a shop that deals with cars built this century.

get your car back and take it to another shop.

harass them for misdiagnosis and costing you money plus time.
