Engine stalls when you come to a stop?
My wife (her's is the MY2000) just called me from the road with something that has been discussed before, but after reading Unicrons post, he's attributed it to bad gas. I don't think this is the case here, I'm looking more at the IAT or MAP sensors, but was wondering which is the most likely culpret. We had the MAP sensor changed due to the "won't rev problem" years ago.
Her problem is strange: coasting to a stop with the clutch in, and applying the brake, the car simply stalls! No hicuup, no sputter, it just stops running. However, if you pop the car in neutral, take your foot off the clutch, and then brake normally, the car stays at idle and does not stall. Strange huh? A/C is on, and I didn't suggest she turn it off for now.
Anyway, the car is out of warranty now, and she's bringing it here to Acura for us to look at, and is going to take my car to work. I'm wondering if someone has already experienced this and can point me in the right direction?

Neither, she hasn't arrived here yet, but I will certainly be tapping the MAP when she drops it off here. Which fuse is the ECU? Is it in the drivers footwell or in the engine compartment? Also, how long do we have to leave it unplugged?
clutch all the way in? Does the clutch need adjustment? Does she have the shifter in neurtal too?
Is it ONLY when she comes to a stop If so I'd think clutch? If the clutch is in, the car is in neutral, it should not matter if she's going 1mph or 100mph. The RPM's are at the same level in neutral. can she prevent the stall by giving it gas? might need a tune up? Could be a dirty map.

has she checked the gas cap? Mine is difficult to get on all the way (it spins and clicks before its actually tight, I have to sqeeze it while turning it). My car almost stalled every time I stopped with the clutch in for almost a week before my CEL came on. My gas cap was almost falling out. Tightening the gas cap and resetting the ECU curred it.
hopefully its nothing serious.

Hmmm, 'o3spa, you think the clutch is not disengaging and so even if she has it all the way to the floor, it's still dragging and causing the engine to stall? Sort of like if you forgot to step on the clutch when you were coming to a stop? This could be, but she did say it does not stutter before it dies so I'm thinking more like MAP or something vacuum related.
Wicky, I'll definately check the gas cap when she gets here, hopefully it's not something as silly as that............jeeze she's been driving the car since June of '01...............

Well, she just got here, and it's running fine for now................... no CEL nothing. Gas cap is fine. When it cools off, I'll unplug the MAP and give it a good bang or two. Also unplug and reseat the IAT sensor. Thanks for the suggestions guys, but if it's not broken now, can't do too much to fix it.
