Default engine swap

Hello all! I'm new to the forum this week and I'm trying to gain as much knowledge as I can for a project I'm starting. I hope you guys have some ideas and solutions for me Here is the project. I know where a totaled 2002 S2000 is. (It was rear ended) I may buy it with the intention of using the engine in an 87 Toyota 4Runner that I'm building as a rock crawler. I have lots of experience in the Toyota 22re field and of the rock crawling also. I built an 86 full rock with a DOA motorsports 22re.( 150 hp +/-) The problem I have with it is that for me that

The biggest problem, aside from the compatibility issues, i see is that the engine would be greatly underpowered for what your intentions are. Do you thing 140ft/lbs of torque is going to be enough for you?

Well, I really don't know. With the dual reduction cases, 2.28 to 1 and 4.7 to 1 and 5.29 r/p the over all crawl ratio is 222-1 . The 86 I have with the engine idling you can't even kill the engine by putting on the brakes as hard as you can. That tells me at idle what little torque the engine is making the gear ratio is so low it's a non factor. Having the ability to rev to 9000 rps is very appealing to me wheeling because it over doubles my rpm range and would not require shifting in certain conditions witch would be a huge advantage. Now just cruising down the hiway at say sixty in overdrive the rpm would work out to around 2500 rpms. How would the s2000's torque compare to the 22re at that rpm? Maybe this is where the vtech would loose it's appeal for this application??

1. i have seen the s2k engines in hot rods, in ae86, nissan old z's just to name a few
2. you can buy honda factory manuals that pretty much tell you everything.
4. You can get a fuel pressure regulator(aem comes to mind) to control the pressure
5. its deffinately possible but it will be time consuming, and costly.

The 22re is a torque monster for an 8 valve mine has 381,000 on it ( smokes a little lol ) The s2k powertrain would not be such a good idea ( mak torque at 7000 plus rpm) The best bet would be to supercharge the 22re , Try this site LCenginering.com, they have superchargers and turbo kits for the 22re or you might consider the newer 2RZ and 3RZ motors both of which put up great numbers.

I think heat might be problem revving it so high and not moving, but a big radiator and enough fans might be ok but something to think about.
