engine swap
I own a 2000 honda s2000 and i was wondering which year motors i can replace it with. I have been told a few different stories. Some say u have to stay with the 2000, and others say i can put a newer motor in? I know the 2000 has the 9000 rpm redline and the newer ones are 7200 or so but are they direct swaps? Should i stay with the 2000 with the 9000 redline or does it matter. Just thinkin the newer motors would have less miles and better condition. Also has anyone bought a JDM motor from these places which import them from Japan? Any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

00-03 engines are 2.0L and have 9k rpm redline
04-present are 2.2L and have 8400 rpm redline
04 and up have less redline but more torque and vice versa. Depends on what you value more.
