I own a 2000 honda s2000 and i was wondering which year motors i can replace it with.
2000-2003 AP1 motors are identical. As such, they can just be dropped in - Plug -n-Play... I would suggest getting a 2001-2003 ECU, if you can get it reasonable...

2004-2005 are AP2 and 2.2L. This is all in increased stroke, necessitating reduced redline. You'll need a 2004-2006 ECU.

2006-2008 are DBW and require a great deal more work in the engine bay... NOT worth it, IMHO.

Also has anyone bought a JDM motor from these places which import them from Japan? Any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
I don't have first hand / verified info on the JDM engines - but, I think they are higher compression engines. The JDM ECUs also have more aggressive fuel / timing curves. The end result is a more powerful engine the REQUIRES higher octane fuel. Again - not worth it, IMHO... Especially if you live in an area where it is hard to get 95 or 100 octane fuel.

swap an F22C long block only into it, then you will have the best of both worlds. 9k redline and the power of an F22C. all you need is a VAFC to tune it. It can handle 9k. I've had my swap for 2 years now with no problems, and I drive it like an F20C.

This is common fallacy that I see constantly.

Japan's fuel octane rating is RON. Ours is (MON+RON)/2.

Their 98 octane is equivalent to our 93 octane. Unless he does something spectacular with the motor, there's absolutely no reason 93 octane won't work in the JDM counterpart.
