Default Engine tapping noise

Hey guys, I am new here. I just bought a 2003 Silverstone metallic Honda s2000 with 32,000 miles, and I had some "fun" with it. I already took it up many times, redlining it a lot. I did it today again and afterwards i hear a wierd knocking/tapping noise on my engine. It sounds so darn annoying and I am quite scared. I talked to a few people and they said you might of bent a valve So please guys, help out a rookie. Hope I didn't damage anything or hopefully it just goes away tomorow morning.

Is it fast tapping? Does it get faster with the rpm's? Can you hear exactly where it is coming from? Did you miss shift? EX: shift into 2nd when you meant to shift into 4th? Could possibly be the timing chain tensioner as well. Do a search on here for that and see if it seems similar to what your experiencing.

Fast tapping, no does not get faster when RPm's are high, in fact it sounds like it goes away at higher RPM's, I don't think i missed shift, it sounds like its comming from the engine.....hmm hope everything is alright, I'll get it checked today, thank for replies.

To little information to diagnose!! is the noise there on idle? does the noise only happen under load? have you checked the oil?

Check threads on timing chain tensioner noise. Should be some videos as well on youtube ect on bad timing chain tensioners. Like I said before see if the sound sounds similar.

hmm... timing chain sounds more like cards in spokes sound, very distinctive. If you can check you valve clearences maybe just loud valves or from redlining alot changed the spec on one of the valves. I have to check my valves every 3k because I will get a tapping and it's from my cyl 3 intake valve always is .11 or so after 3k. Finally replaced lock nut on retainer and hasn't changed spec sense. Just something to think about. If your not loosing power I doubt it's a bent valve but if your really worried do a compression test and see if your compression in one of your cyl is low.

Thank you for the help guys.
Now, how much would it cost to fix this? And what would i need to do to fix this? Was this caused by me redlining it too much? Is it safe to drive it like the next few days?
