Yes, that is exactly what it means.

I guess the easiest thing to do at a later date would be to switch back to my old cylinder head?
If you were closer, I would swap heads with you.

You're car should run fine. You just won't have an air pump which means you will get an emissions CEL.

You won't be swapping a engine harness and PCM to make a DBW engine work in a earlier car. It's a bit more complicated than that.

If you run a DBW cylinder head without the air injection ports on a 00-05 car you will have a permanent CEL, and will never know if you any other more serious problem.

don't swap the cylinder head what you can do is weld a small pipe to the exhaust before the catalytic converter and connect the hose that goes to the cyl head from air pump to the exhaust and you wont have a CEL light because it will do the same thing. the way the ecm monitors if the air pump in pumping air into the exhaust is by monitoring the oxygen sensors voltage trust me I know beacuse I am emissions specialist and I have done this on some cars that parts have been disconued and wont pass the emissions test.

The change in flow resistance with running a hose from the air control valve to the exhaust manifold will effect air pump current draw, and it will still fail the Pump monitor =CEL.

Since the air control valve is bolted to the intake manifold you'd have to figure out how to attach a hose to it, and not have it melt on the exhaust.

Not to mention being ghetto fabulous.

Are there any other options at all like a piggy back ecu or a way of modifying the ecu to stop the CEL?

Engine is in and running smoothly. CEL warning light is on as predicted. The garage are doing a diagnostic to make sure there is nothing more serious to worry about.

There is a way to fool the ecu with voltage, you would need to do some research.
