Don't waste your time searching.. Many have claimed to be able to defeat the air injection monitors, yet nobody has been able to post exactly what they did.

The tests the PCM runs to monitor air glow and pump current draw are to complicated to build a simulator for.

Most of your searches will have me repeating this..

Thanks for the advice Slows2k

Would an AEM ecu be programmable to remove the CEL.
Was thinking of supercharging anyway.

That would solve the problem.

Thanks.

Having just picked up the car I just discovered (maybe i should have known this but i have never had a cel before) that the car wont vtec / rev beyond 6k with the CEL. This is obviously more of a problem than i thought.

Is the AEM the only engine management route that would solve this?

I'm using a F20C in my clubman without the secondary air system. It throws the code P0412 "secondary air valve malfunction" but it VTECs OK and there is no detrimental effect. You may have a different cause for your VTEC problem.

Steve

great to know. It seems like it may be another problem... i was reading somewhere that vtec solenoids or something can cause this. My local garage is getting 'Unknown Error' on their machine. Maybe i need to get it to Honda to get the error codes.

Thanks for the info, very useful!!

Great. I will get them to do a scan for the number and get it on here tomorrow with a bit of luck.

Thanks for the advice!

OK,
So my engine blows up and i replace it with a 2007 engine in a 2000 car... fine. I had to change the crank and cam sensors etc.

Got it all up and running beautifully with a CEL warning and, and a 6k Revlimiter kicking in.

So i was going to take to honda on monday to get the error codes off the ecu and while reading some info on the site came accross this page:

http://www.modifry.com/freebies/old/dtc/index.htm

http://www.k-series.com/tech_detail.php?Tech_ID=CEL

Basically i have a uk car and i used a paperclip to ground pin 9(green and white wire) to pin 5.

Went to start engine... NO CEL LIGHT and ENGINE WON'T START. Turns over but WON'T START.

I am gutted. Have i knackered my ECU?

I really hope not.

Any help would be really appreciated.
