Default Engine VIN

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there was a way to match the engine with the car? Is there a VIN that will uniquely identify it? Thanks.

Thank's that's helpful, looks like its behind the engine by the firewall. I wonder if that's the only location.

That is the only location as far as engine vin.

The vin plate is actually attached to the cylinder head, not the engine block.

It's easily visible when you lower the engine while doing a clutch job. Otherwise, it's impossible to see in a running car.

Not true. An inspection mirror and a flashlight can allow you to match the last 4 digits easily.

Is there enough room to put a camera phone back there and take a picture?
