Default EPS light

Haven't had any problems with my 2000 s2k yet, however recently the EPS light came on. Can someone quickly send me to the link with the reset procedure?

Thanks

AFAIK there is no "reset" to the EPS light.

1) Why do you assume it is not a problem?

2) Have you noticed any change in the steering feel? (EPS is "electric power steering")

3) I would assume the EPS light is controlled by a flag in the ECU, and that if you reset the ECU it would turn off the ECS light.

The EPS system has it's own trouble codes, just like the engine.

You need a scan test, or you can get blink codes, that's that. Don't look for a quick fix here.

There are two electric plugs on the steering rack, make sure they are properly connected. Maybe you'll get your "quickie" you're looking for

Okay...so I got home from work, started the car after 8 hrs of not driving it, and the EPS light was off and power steering was back. Woke up this morning and all is well, no EPS light and full steering.

My car is also showing the check engine light...from my experience this light could be one of many simple things, and I know I have to hook up the scanner to get the code, but could this light be a cause for why the EPS light went on? I have read that some people have experienced similar problems with the EPS where the light came on once, went off after a short period of time and never came on again.

I guess I will have to take the car in to get this checked out...I just don't want to hear a bunch of B.S from the dealership because my car is running fine otherwise.

Once again all help is greatly appreciated

The two are not related....for the most part

Check your gas cap...if it's loose, or started clicking before it actually sealed while tightening, this may be you check engine light.

Do yourself a favor. Go to the local auto parts and get yourself an inexpensive OBDII generic code reader. Pull the code, we may be able to help.

In addition, as long as you know the code, the dealer can't BS you and rip you off

I'd guess you could get one for 100 bucks...all you need is one to read generic OBDII. Some even read non-generic (manufacturer specific) codes, but do not define them. These are a little more 200-400, but worth the money. Get yourself a Honda/Helms manual, and it gives simple procedures for codes that you find. Then you'll really be in the money.
