Default EPS Question

I'm not really a car smart guy....but could someone explain how th EPS works in this vehicle? Is the steering all electronic? Are hydrolics involved or are there servos with a "drive by wire" connection or is there a direct connection? Just curious how it works?

Well, from what i can remember...The EPS is fully electronic and i think there is a servo motor built into the steering rack itself. There is a direct link from the steering wheel to the steering rack with a "Torque Sensor" in between This torque sensor is able to detect the force exerted at the steering wheel (panic turns, quick side-side turns etc) and communicates this info to the EPS control unit which in turn controls the servo motor in the steering rack on how fast or hard operate the steering rack. This is a crude explaination...And there are probably some things i missed out on. Hope this helps!
