Default EPS and Spark Plugs

Hey guys, I just read in the forced induction forum about sparkplugs making the car's systems go apeshit.

After installing my turbo, I changed the sparkplugs to BRK8Es and all was well. One morning, about a month after the install, my EPS light came on, and would no go off. I tried everything, including bringing the car over to Billman. We can't figure it out. We even swapped the EPS modules (the little box on the side of the battery) and that DID get rid of the EPS light, BUT, the power steering wouldn't back off at speed like it's supposed to. Made my car feel like a cadillac. Also, even with a new box, cruise still didn't work.

Now, I don't mind driving my car without power steering, it's not a big deal. However, something with EPS is tied into cruise control, and I lost that as well, and that, is one feature I love.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Could it be the spark plugs? What the hell could be causing all of this? Nothing seems to be broken. I would love to get my cruise control back.

Interesting, I would be surprised if it was the spark plugs whether they be the non resistor type or not. And you are running resistors so I would look elsewhere. The first thing I would have done is pull the battery positive and negative and touch them together to discharge all cars memory thoroughly. Did you do this before replacing the box? Light still comes on? Did you check all your fuses?

Funny you should say that. Before the box was swapped, my battery died in his garage for about 3 days. Then I brought over a new one, and we changed it out before the swap. Besides, you need to remove the battery to swap the EPS box. Fuses are all good, but I switched them out anyway, just to make sure.

No problem, thanks for playing! For the life of me, I can't figure it out. I also can't figure out how my cruise is dead. EPS and cruise seems to be completely separate systems, since people take out cruise, but still have power steering.
