Default etched ring on 2 retainers

in another post i found it showed pics of retainers and one had an etched ring around the edge of the retainer. he said it was from hitting the roller rocker.

but he didnt say weather it was from the retainer being cracked. so my question is, does the ring tell me that 2 of my retainers are cracked or does somthing need to be adjusted?

A retainer touching a roller is never good.
Something is not right.
If the retainer is cracked and moved up the valve stem you might get what you describe (I think)
If possible take & post some pictures.

Nevertheless:
Get it cheked out ASAP.
I would not drive the car to the dealer / mechanic if I were you.

Let us know what it was.

The post you found the picture in is all about cracked retainers.

but he didnt say weather it was from the retainer being cracked.
Read that post again.
In there is all the info you need to spot a cracked retainer and tell the difference between a good one and a cracked one.

If your retainers look anything like the one in the picture = it's cracked.
That is: sitting higher on the valvestem.
Don't check by valve clearance: that is not affected by cracked retainers.

Don't drive the car anymore.
Have them (the retainers) changed out.

Did you miss shift & overrev at any time?
