you'll probably better off picking up a used cat back from the other local forum member, the dent looks bad

The oem muffler probably have 100x more r&d time spend on it vs most aftermarket unit

Yeh, that's dead. Don't get me wrong it'll probably work ok, but imagine what's happened to all the baffling etc inside. I wouldn't put it back on my car if I was you.

Thats not the muffler its just the resontator. Im sure youll never notice any difference. If your really worried cut it off and have a pipe welded in.

What would be the effect of removing the resonator and welding a pipe in? Louder exhaust? Or any drone?

louder and raspy. Do no use a test pipe with the resonator cut out either, it sounds horrible, lol

The only real issue IMO is the alignment of the system once you mount it back on the car. Performance wise, nada. There is no baffling in the resonator, just glass wool packing. Good excuse to go aftermarket or as earlier posted, resonator delete (I've done it, to the untrained ear, most can't tell the difference).
