EXHAUST install question:
so i am putting on my stock exhaust with a couple of friends, and in the process i broke one of the 3 bolts that attach the exhaust to the cat.
it happened on the removal of the aftermarket exhaust. no impact wrench was used, just a pipe and a socket wrench. when the nut came off, so did half the bolt.
the car sounds fine, and feels fine on just the two bolts.
my question is i probably can't tend to the car for about another week, do you guys think it will be ok, seems like it will. oh, and is there a part # for the bolt, or can i just go to pep boys and show them my bolt to get a replacement.
i guess its time for a test pipe....

Check for black soot around the flange. If no soot, then it'll be ok for a week.

dude, you rule!!!!
you know what though, i don't know if i have the ability nor the drive to remove the remaining bolt if i don't have to for a while. there is actually some thread left, enough to get a nut on there. perhaps i can get a nut at pep boys and try it on the remains of the bolt.
only thing is i am an under the hood beginner and i don't know the size/spec of the bolt/nut. i used a 14mm socket for it, but don't know the thread size/pattern if there is such a thing, i wouldn't know how to read it. i'm sure many bolts that require an XXmm could be wrapped on different size threads.
sorry for the stupid trivial questions.
oh, and thanks for the help.

Next time try liquid wrench.
i was also told that using an impact wrench vs. a pipe and socket wrench turning slowly would have been better as well.
thanks once again,
i'm gunna pass out now.

I don't know what size it is either
You could try buying several nut's of differen't size and thread pitch to find the right one till you get the bolt off and finish the job correctly.

i brke all 3 of mine the first time. just hammer them out of the cat and replace with 3 new nut/bolt/lockwasher/washer combos.
my brothers brand new 05 did the same thing. he took them off the first time with hand tools with no issues. we go to take em off a week later to add the test pipe and we end up breaking 2 and having to cut the 3rd out. the tes pipe came with new bolts/nuts/washers anyways.
