Default exhaust smoke under acceleration

Last weekend at mid-Ohio racetrack, my S2000 was putting out very large clouds of dark smoke. This occured under full acceleration (after sweeping right-handers). I have seen small puffs while shifting under full acceleration in the past, but this was altogether different, much more severe and not related to shifts. I quit running and am having the car looked at this week but I would be very inteerested in any similar experiences and/or any suggestions, diagnoses or solutions.

Jim, was your oil down? I believe Gunter's thread talks about this, but under hard right handed cornering some S2Ks (not all, don't know why) can suck oil through the valve cover breather into the intake tube in front of the TB. A catch can is a simple way to avoid the problem. Normally though the smoke is greyish-blue. Black smoke indicates a rich condition.

I have seen the same condition on our race car. We installed the catch can as UL mentioned but still see the ocasional smoke (probably oil) on right hand turns, but very little.

Does anyone make a "catch can" or do I need to rig one?

Places like Summit Racing and Jeg's sell overflow bottles that work fine. Usually they have a single inlet and a vent with filter on top. Just replace the vent filter with another tube and you're set.
