Default Experience with Snap On Flex Head tools?

Hi,

I just bought a Snap On Techwrench torque wrench (TECH2FR100) with a Flex Head. This torque wrench is ~$360, so it's quite a bit of money. I bought it thinking the Flex Head would make it more versatile, as there are so many times I wished to use a torque wrench but just couldn't fit one into the space.

Well, problem is, that Flex Head seems to be pretty loose in my opinion. It doesn't swing freely or anything, but you definitely cannot push pressure against the socket from the handle without flexing the head more. The head is limited to only 15deg of play, so it's not too bad, but would be really annoying if trying to keep it straight.

I didn't use that wrench yet, and can still return it. Any opinions from users? Does the Flex Head get in the way during actual use?

Thanks!

I have that torque wrench and use it professionally. No complaints from me, I love it.

Can you describe for me how loose your Flex Head is? I'd appreciate it. Trying to figure out if mine is defective. Doubt it... but want peace of mind.

I tried tightening the torx bolt holding in the head, but it didn't increase any friction. Appears the head swivels around the moving mechanism, and doesn't make contact with the outside walls significantly.

i have the 1/4 inch, 3/8 and 1/2 inch versions of the tech wrench, my 1/2 inch drive has the angle measurement built in.. bad ass imho.

If the head is too loose simply tighten up the allen that holds it together. I'm pretty sure the torque wrenches have the bolt there (all my other snap on flex head ratchets do.

they shouldn't flop around but they aren't super tight either.

I have never had any want for the flex head to not flex, its never really crossed my mind that its too loose.

Mine isnt hard to move around, only a little force to move the head, but its not loose either, it wont move if i shake it back and forth.

on my wrench it's a torx bolt holding it in, and i already tried tightening it. doesn't make the head any tighter. i think the head swivels around something else that's between the sides, so tightening that bolt doesn't help.

yeah, mine doesn't flop around. but i can move it with my finger tips without significant effort.
