i finally got my engine rebuilt and got it back tonight.. drove it home tonight.. trying to keep the rpms under 3k for the first 300miles.. but i noticed driving home.. if i even get the rpms to 3k.. the engine starts to bog ..

anyone have any idea what might cause this.. 3 ideas i've had so far..

1. need new ignition coil packs
2. fuel starvation.. not sure why.. no fuel leaks..
3. battery power.. it sat for 2 months.. finally starting back up.. had to jump start it to drive it home.

new engine.. has freshly sleeved block.. new rings.. pistons.. about 10 miles on it right now.

Need more input....

Run a compression test, check for engine codes (probably none since you didn't mention it), see if you can't put a wideband on it and see what the mixture is doing.

Ouch, what happened to your engine that required a rebuild?

In any case, the majority of problems I've heard of that include a normal idle and low rpm use, but with problems at higher revs has had something to do with the MAP sensor.

i'll ask them to check that as well.. found this thread.. looks like joes2k was having a similar problem.. anything over 2,500 on my car and it seems like it starts to miss fire really bad..

thread where joe had same issues fixed by fuel injectors, igniton coil packs and new plugs:

Interesting. UL, would you mind giving a quick primer on the crank sensor and what it's used for (spark timing, perhaps?)

Multi-port fuel injection system. Computer controlled direct ignition (no distributor) with a high-voltage coil for each platinum-tipped spark plug; controlled by sensors on the cams and crank.

Yeah, the crank sensor is primarily for ignition while the cam sensors control fuel injection timing. His ignition timing was probably way off.
