Out of posterity, I used the live chat to speak to an agent, they confirmed the parts are available for shipping in 1-3 days. FWIW I recently placed several orders (2023) through hpn, some with very esoteric small parts (engine and interior), only 1 was back ordered out of 43 parts (Yellow Main Bearing). Regardless, you may have to wait, but the part is available.

Didn't you buy new pistons recently for your built? (OEM).

As for the other topic, in the Porsche world, every Alusil block that gets converted to Nikasil gets its pistons changed to aftermarket. I don't know if the reason is cost or the fact that OE pistons are iron coated for Alusil and thus not compatible. A clarification is definitely needed, but Slow was assured by Millenium who are one of the most experienced companies in this area along with LN that it will work. I don't see much sumerbore info on their website.

I actually went with the Nippon PCX Pistons you used in your previous build, both for budget reasons and future upgrades.

Interestingly, LN uses Millennium to restore cylinders.

I know Millennium can repair heavily damaged cylinders. Virtually any amount of scoring, ovaling, etc. They weld new metal, then bore that to slight oversize, just enough for their coating. Then they bore the coating to exact dimensions, based on pistons you send them.

So I don't onow if they first bore past all remaining frm, then build up from there, or if they just repair on top of frm. I do know they can coat on top of frm. So like if no repairs needed (any damage is less than thickness of coating), they'd just coat on top of frm.

So guessing if repairs needed they'd do those on top of frm also. But guessing.

Since they can repair virtually any cylinder damage, and its not all that expensive, this opens a whole new world for rebuilds. Bonus that it can be redone endlessly. So no upper limit on motor lifespans (if we can get a crank rebuild process that actually lasts).

Since they match bore to pistons you supply, no need to match A or B size pistons to block. Just use whatever size you can get.

They can plate on top of FRM, re-bore and plate on top of FRM, or re-sleeve with *aluminum* sleeves and replate.

They can build the plating up to 0.010, so If say you had a scuffed cyl wall they could hone less than 0.010 it to clean it up and then rebuild it back to standard, but key is whether the OEM piston can be re-used. It appears so, which is a major game changer.
