Default Failure to launch

Noticed a used car lot had an '01 S2k for sale. Have never driven one other than mine so I test drove it yesterday for fun. It made me realize that I have an issue that needs fixing. I've always had to rev the engine higher than I want to get the car moving in first gear and keep it from stalling. The s2k on the lot engaged easily. Any suggestions on what it might be? My '01 has 54,000 miles on it and has no modifications. All fluids have been changed and valves adjusted. I've owned it a year and a half and know nothing about its prior maintenance. When I inspected the air filter, I noticed dog food inside which I know is evidence that rats were living in there (at least I know the prior owner wasn't lying about it being kept in a garage). The filter itself looks fine.

So, after reading a bunch of comments here, I decided to 1. replace the PCV valve, 2. Clean the MAP sensor, and 3. Clean the IAC valve. Not only did this solve my problem, I also feel like I gained 30 hp. The whole repair cost me just over $3. This forum is great!
