Default THE FAMOUS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.

so anyways after filling up full tank of gas my check engine light came on after 6-7 miles of driving (solid light) anyways when i got home thought id check the gas cap to see if it was loose sure enough it was tight. so

my dumbass reset the ecu before i even got the code anyways i have been driving for 20 miles and still no light on.

does anyone know what else can cause this problem or is it just the gas cap that was probably a little loose?

thanks
sean

Mehh, I'd ignore it unless the light comes back. OBD2 is pretty sensitive.

Gas cap. Turn until you hear at least 3 clicks and you're done.

Just an FYI the "gas cap" for lack of a better term code is P1456. Or that is what it is on an AP1.

i always do, but for the first time in owning my 2004 s2 i have never gotten a check engine light before. My car is very well maintain so i was thinking that something else might have trigger it.

do you think i have a loose gas cap?

There was a TSB on the filler neck but that was for MY02 and early MY03. It could be a lot of things. If it comes back on just go to most auto parts stores and they can read it for you.

No. If you disconnected the battery or removed the back-up fuse the codes are gone until the fault is present again. On some DTC's it will take multiple trips and driving cycles before it resets.

I believe you mean "infamous". No one really likes CEL's.
