Fan "ticking" noise - normal?
Hey guys,
It seems when I'm idling I can really hear the fan ticking away and rotating around etc. - is this normal? Should I hear it kind of pulsating and ticking?
Ta!

To try and confirm if it's the fan, with the ignition OFF, go and manually spin the fan. OR, next time you hear the sound, pull over and leave the car idling, pop the hood and wait for the fan to crank up again and have a good listen. Don't get you fingers or clothing caught in the belt or fan.
If it's not the fan, then it could be the belt tensioner or one of the accessory pulleys. Worst case scenario would be the cam chain tensioner.

Make sure you're not talking about the Blower motor inside the car. Leaves have been known to make it past a the AC filter(if not fitted properly) and get in the blower causing a 'tick" when the blower is on.

I can't really replicate it anymore. I can still hear something whirring/pulsating but it may just be normal - is it?
