Default This fell out of my transmission, what is it?

hi everyone,

Yesterday I removed the boot covering the clutch fork and clutch slave cylinder to find this piece sitting freely inside of the boot. Does anyone know what this is? Is my car unsafe to drive without it? If it’s a broken piece, how would this have happened so I know what to avoid?

Looks like a broken off retaining clip for the clutch fork, here is a link for the part 22835-PCY-000
It might be possible to change it out without removing transmission, but there is not a lot of room there so wont be easy.

So does that attach to the clutch fork itself?

Also is the car operable without this clip?

That's part of the pivot for the fork. Yes you can operate it without the full thing, but the clutch pedal will be horrible if it further breaks.
