Finally got the dreaded 1-2 grind
I've read for many months now complaints from other owners about their cars tendency to sometimes grind on the 1-2 upshift when driven hard. I thought this problem wasn't going to visit me, but recently I've been getting it on the 1-2 upshift but only when the car is very warm and I'm shifting at or near 9k. The only thing I find a little curious about this is that I only recently changed my transmission fluid at about 19k miles and I stuck with Honda's MTF since I'd had no prior grinding problems with it. It started grinding only days after I'd changed the fluid.
I can't help but wonder if I'd have been better off sticking with the dirty old fluid. Anyhow I'm wondering how long should I wait to have this TSB performed. I've still got 18 months and 16k miles left on my warranty. And I've already had TSB 54 (buzzing under deceleration) performed. Any suggestions?

Know that when it happened to me............it just happened ALL OF A SUDDEN!!! Just out of the blue! Then it happened like ALL THE TIME!!!!!!
Get it in to get fixed and all was better. 60,000 miles later..............still good.
Only thing is you have an '01 I thought the TSB only applied to the '00's. Though it should get fixed no matter what!!!!!!

I was at the drag strip just the other day and I was up against a 94 Stealth R/T. Well that doest really matter... but anyways... when I shifted from first to second just like any other time I didn't go in. I put in the cluth again and got it in without loosing much time but im sure that he wouldn't have beaten me by the .1 second he did if I hadn't had that problem. I didn't realize it was a common thing though. I just figured I slipped up and didn't shift right. So I just need to go to any Honda dealership and get them to fix it. Does anyone know exactly what the problem is caused so I don't have to go into detailed explination with someone who doesn't really know the car?
I JUST got my 2001 back from the dealership. They had it for a week and a half. I brought them the TSB so they would not try to "make me go away" even though 2000, was the car for this, I still had it, bad. They replaced it and the shifting now is SO smooth. They said the 2nd gear did have wear on it "no $shit"
I would print the TSB for it so you have it in hand when you go. Also, a friend of mine said that there is a "set" of vin #'s also that this will apply to. Not sure how he knew this or how to find that out but am sure there is a way. Good luck, and hopefully it works out for you.
