It will be closer to 10k miles so don't be worried.
Don't follow this either you will want to stay within what is outlined in your owners manual especially since you are under warranty. I believe it is 3750 for severe and 7500 mi for normal conditions. It is not wise to go longer than recommended. In the event you ever have an engine or oil related issue you want to be within Hondas guidelines its not worth the hassle IF something of this nature ever occured. When your out of warranty you can go as long as you wish.

Most Hondas I have owned it has been recommended to do the first change at 7500mi.

You don't want to use a synthetic based oil during the few thousand miles (5K) to allow for the rings/seal to break in.

After that switch up to synthetic and change every 5-6K, depending on your driving conditions/climate etc.
I was told by Honda not to put synthetic in until the car had 10,000 miles on it, since it continues to break in/seat for that long. Since I figure that Honda knows a lot more about this motor than I do, and that modern dino oils, changed at reasonable intervals, are not a threat to the long term health of my motor, I followed that advice.

I have about 53,000 miles on my car. I've changed the oil about every 3750 miles (as advised in the owner's manual), first with dino oil, until it had passed 10,000 miles, and with Mobil 1 10W-30 since then.

YMMV. This works for me.
