The first oil on my '07 will be due soon. I'm down to 30% on the oil life indicator now, so there will be about 4000 miles on the car when I do the change. Is this too early to switch to full synthetic?

 

A change to synthetic at no earlier than 10,000 miles is the rule of thumb. When I did my first oil change, I didn't know that. I changed to syn at 2,300 miles and have had no ill effects 20,000 miles later.

 

I changed my oil to Mobil 1 at around 3K, along with the trans & diff fluids.

I just did my 2nd oil change (still with Mobil 1) at 9.5K before I went to Sebring for an HPDE.

I did not add any additional oil inbetween changes, and when I looked at the dipstick before the 9.5K change, I still at the FULL mark.

After the HPDE, I'm still at FULL.

No problems whatsoever.
