Flashing Green Key: Cranks but won't start
I was autocrossing my car (MY 2007) yesterday, and when I tried to start the car up after a run, it wouldn't start. The starter turns over but it won't fire.
The main thing I noticed is the green key on the dashboard doesn't stop flashing after the key is turned to the on position. My friend confirmed that the green key symbol on his car flashes a few times and then stops. After researching/reading, it looks like an immobilizer issue. Note: my car has an aftermarket alarm installed.
Does anyone have any advice on how to start troubleshooting this issue? Is there a fuse(s) I should look at? Where is the physical location of the immobilizer and can I test it? How likely is it for the transponder ring to go bad? Do I have to get the keys reprogrammed?
Thanks,
Chris

Ok, so the car starts with the spare key! Does this rule out the immobilizer? I'm thinking it's just a bad key. How the key became defective is beyond me.
I spoke to the dealership and they want $150 to run diagnostics on the immobilizer, plus another $80 to reprogram the key.

Same thing happened to me 2 times in the past 2 weeks. Spare key didn't work, let the car sit for several hours and it started....don't know why. I did research the immobilizer and will probably replace it. In the mean time, I disconnected the immobilizer from behind the key ignition (you can feel the wire harness tab from underneath the dash right behind the key) and the green flashing light stayed on. Plugged it back in and the light went away. I have the OEM alarm, no issues for the past week.

I'm gonnna trust my gut and say that the immobilizer is fine and just replace the key. I found a local locksmith that will do everything for $100, key included.
For anyone that does need to replace the immobilizer on an AP2, the Honda Part No. is 39730-SLA-J01.
