Default Flashpro equivalent for 05 and down?

I've been reading around, and it seems like the older ECU's are a PITA to tune with, and you can't throw on a flashpro to get better mid range either. I have been searching and have yet to find an equivalent to the flash pro with 05 and lower models. Is there something out there for a few hundred that can lower vtec, or can you get a stand alone unit, and then go flash pro with that?. Pretty much looking for the possible options for 05 and older cars that don't have the newer ECU's and DBW.

The reason you can't find it is because nothing outside of piggyback (garbage) and standalone exist. The 06+ ecu's can be flashed and tuned (exactly what the flashpro does, it's a conservative map pre-programmed onto chip that gets tacked on and modifies the stock map). The previous year ecu's can't be modified because the map isn't loaded into flash memory like the others, it's set in stone . SO yeah, that's the only thing bad about the 40-05 ap2's.

Seems like with everything you need, you're in twice as much as a flashpro

So you would have to get a stand alone if you wanted to do any tuning what so ever, since the stock ECU is set in stone?

Seeing stand alone units are really expensive i think i would rather keep the stock ecu since i don't plan to go FI and only wanted to lower vtec range to get more mid range.

Check out E-manage Ultimate. Without a "deal", it's by far the cheaper in the list above.

I was under the impression that putting an 03 ECU into an 04-05 was a straightforward way to raise redline, but not changing VTEC crossover. Raising the redline 500 shifts the gear changes a bit to better be in the power band.

No one ever made a modifiable ECU replacement for 04-05s, so there are no good other solutions.

Wouldn't raising redline in the f22c start hitting valves? I remember reading something saying that since the displacement was bigger and the stroke was further, they limited it to 8k to prevent valves being damaged...but correct me if i'm wrong, i'm not sure if i'm remembering this correctly
