I can't tell if you've tried xviper's suggestion with the MAP sensor. The symptom you're describing is spot-on for that issue. If you haven't done it yet, you really should do so.

Elistan, thanks for reminding him. I posted the details a few posts up but sometimes, people prefer to look for the more complicated diagnosis because the "simple stuff" can't possibly work. Until he tries it and reports back, everyone is just going around in circles "guessing". Maybe the engine will need to be rebuilt first before finding out that a simple "MAP whack/ECU reset" would have revealed the story. It may not fix the problem for good but it'll tell lots.
(It's kinda like buying a whole new locking door knob when replacing just the tumblers will do. )

Guys, thanks for the attention. I havn't tried the 'Map Whack' yet. I havn't had the opportunity due to light and weather conditions. I'm really not looking for a more complicated solution; i agree that generally a good whack normally does the trick!

As previously mentioned, it's going in tomorrow to those 'Qualified' in the matter. If they can not fix the issue then i will perform the procedure you outline. If this still does not fix it, i will go through the process of handing the car back, end of.

Thanks Guys. No more guessing please, i dont want intelligent passionate people going round in circles over me. I'll let you know the outcome early next fingers crossed.

James

XViper, i give it to you!!! The dealership took a look at the Map sensor, messed around with it a bit, put it back on, and hey presto, i've got my car back.

Thanks for your input on this one

I'm still a little concearned as to why the MAP would have been dirty/faulty. If the ride is quite hard and the road unsmooth, i suppose the map sensor may move around a bit?? Not sure, anyway, it would seem that all is as it should be.

Cheers

It's not really dirty or faulty. It's just a known quirk with this MAP. Have a look here:
