Fluid change
I am about to do some searching to learn about changing the fluids in my recently bought s2000. It's got 42k on it and I am just not sure about the maintence that's been done. I will do the valves adjustment in the spring.
What do you guys recommend for fluids and I am open to any tips about the procedure and anything else you want to offer to a new s2000 owner.

Well what I use is amsoil but Mobil 1 is great as well I just recently switched my oem transmission fluid for amsoil and what a difference my 2nd gear used to pop off and now it doesn't it's awesome

I use:
Motor- RedLIne 5W30
Tranny- Honda MTF
Diff- Mobil 1 75w-90
Just put the right type of stuff in there and change when you should. People will recommend RedLine, Motul, Amsoil, people will say it doesn't matter, people will say it does. Some say don't use Mobil 1, some say they do. Have fun with the S.

I think the biggest thing you should get out of this is to use synthetic (as much as you can in the US) and use a 0-XX oil to prevent as much wear as possible on start no matter where you live and drive.
Personally I use Mobil1 0-30 (Wal Mart $25 5qts) and a Honda filter. I have used Honda MTF but am about to try Amsoil. For the diff I use Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90.
For the clutch, I use Honda brake fluid and use Billman's method of sucking out the fluid several times (driving between refills) to slowly replace the fluid. Easy.
I don't track (yet) so I just used the Honda Brake fluid for a flush.
Good luck and have fun. Do read up on putting the car on jack stands for safety. Muy important!

Oil is a hotly debated thing. Some will go round and round throwing numbers about the difference between 0w-xx and 5w-xx. Read the Bob is the Oil Guy and find out why 0w-30 Synthetic (not dino) is better than 10w-30 anything because it is thinner at start when a lot of wear occurs. All xw-30 oil will be the same at operating temp. No oil is perfect for start but 0w is much better. Read the link and you will know the why.
Your engine will not explode running 10w-30, its just 0w is better for long term wear.
