Uh oh - in before the Ford 9" vs. GM 12-bolt war starts. :p

Did some canyon carving through Malibu yesterday morning. After about 60 miles of moderate driving (with a few bursts of hard driving) the redline gear oil doesn't show any signs of breaking down yet...

I'm starting to notice I get inside wheel spin on my way up Las Flores Cyn Rd in Malibu on two of the sharp right handers. They're both early in my canyon route, so I think what's happening is everything is still a little cold and because of the way the road lies there, I lift the inside wheel coming through. Once the inside wheel starts to spin, I have to let off and let it sit back down on the road or else it will spin and no power goes to the outside wheel. I guess my clutches are starting to wear out. Damn shame - I really don't look forward to doing a rebuild anytime soon. Hopefully it's just because the fluid isn't all the way up to temp.

I wouldn't think you need new clutch plates. Were you saying the road is such that the inside tire is coming off the ground? Still, the LSD should be sending a sizable fraction of power to the outside wheel or whichever wheel has grip. You should contact Kaaz and ask them what's up.

Yeah, there are two right handers going up las flores where my inside rear comes off the ground. I think the problem might just be that the wheel comes off the ground with no throttle being applied and then I roll onto the throttle gradually enough that since there's no preload, the unloaded wheel is able to start spinning freely without enough torque being applied to lock up the clutches. I don't think it's too serious at this point. Never seems to be a problem except on those corners.
