BTW, Kendall also sells their fluid minus any FM and sells the FM separate (just like Redline) so you can cook up your own custom brew if you want (the Kendall stuff stinks like sulfur though .... Redline FM doesn't so they must be of a different chemistry). I

i really wanted to find a way of getting Cusco's diff oil but no one can get it. not even Bp automotive. which sucks. i think i might end trying the redline gear oil. just not the shock proof again.

Kendall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where do you get the Kendall stuff from and what does it cost? I can get redline locally for like $10/bottle, or something cheap like that.

ya i can get the RL for 7 a bottle. which is a good price

A local auto parts place stocks it up here but I'd think you could easily find it in SoCal since a majority of the hardcore HP freaks (alcohol burning dudes) use it religiously. I think it costs $5 a quart but it was a while ago that I bought it so I'm not for sure.

Ok, here's the response from Redline (no real news):

In your car where you want more lock up from the limited slip I would try the Red Line 75W90NS, this has no friction modifier so will give maximum lock up but you likely will also experience chatter when making a slow tight turn. If that is the case then a slight amount of friction modifier can be added to reduce the chatter, being aware that too much will reduce the lock up. The friction modifier makes the fluid more slippery reducing lock up, the Red Line 75W90 contains 5% a threshold you would want to stay under for increased lock up.

...

The ShockProof gear lubes are designed and better suited for racing use, that recommendation is partially due to the low temperature characteristics as well as not being as slippery as needed for a clutch type unit as well as appearing different than a typical gear lube a consideration when under warranty.

Update on price of Kendall ..... I went by on the way home from work and it's $3.59 a quart.
Rev, if you can't find it locally I'll be happy to pick one up and send it to you as an early X-mas gift ...... just cause I want you to try it and "see the light" seriously, you in?

The Reverend 12-03-2003 07:21 PM

Alright - you sold me on it. I'll probably head home to Riverside next week, so I'll check the auto parts stores while I'm out there (there aren't any auto parts store out here in Santa Monica). If I can't find any there, I might take you up on the offer :) Thanks!

P.S. How was it that we didn't used to get along?!
