My fob remote doesn't seem to be working to lock/unlock my car. The little red light on the remote lights up when I press any of the buttons. Is it possible that my alarm system or receiver has stopped working? Or could it be my remote?

 

Is it just the lock/unlock buttons that aren't working?

You didn't mention it, but have you tried replacing the battery in it yet?

Do you have another key fob that you can test?

 

I haven't tried the option button to try n open the trunk but the lock and unlock buttons aren't working. And I don't have another remote. I was only given one key n one remote when I bough the car.

 

And no I also have not tried changing the battery. I thought the batter would still be good since the red light would go on whenever I would press any of the buttons.

 

Could be dirty contacts in the FOB. Check the trunk button and if it works, then you are likely having issues with the buttons. If it doesn't work, replace the battery - cheap way to troubleshoot.

If that doesn't work, then it could be an issue with the receiver. Do you have the OEM alarm or an aftermarket one (note, the stock car does not have an alarm, just the FOB features for lock/unlock)?

 

I replaced the battery, but still no luck. None of the buttons work.. Lock, unlock, or the option button to open the trunk.
