look carefully, the valve seats lower than left cuz of widder hole on the retainer thus makes valve keeper lower.

don't u need to check the valve? to c if it touched the piston?

04 Retainers are thicker, and stronger. The keepers must be used in conjunction as they are matched to the retainers. After an over-rev they should be checked, and maybe once more 5k-10k miles after. I haven't been able to document the time frame between the mis-shift, and retainers that are as bad as these.

There is no reason to pull the head and check the valves. The valve is not sitting in a lower state, the retainer has moved upwards. Besides, the exhaust valves will always hit the piston first.

I am reluctant to use Ti retainers, because of the service life.

04 retainers are a permanent fix IMO.
