Default Free Mod!

I have a 01 S/C and I was reading somewhere that you can block or re-route the coolant lines that come off of the the TB and intake manifold and the car will run colder?

Is this true?
Is it safe?
If so, how is it done?

Thanks
jdm

Should be able to just loop the lines (run the input line into the output line) and it will keep the TB cooler. Whether you actually see gains or not will depend on how bad heat soak is in the rest of the components. I did this to my dad's 'vette, I doubt it made much of a difference.

The drawback is that the TB/blade could ice up in cold weather. That is why the TB has coolant running through it normally.

The guy put a ball bearing the same size as the inner diameter of the TB coolant lines in 2 locations and re-attached the lines.

its probably worth it if you live somewhere very hot.
but its not worth it in the winter
it only takes a few minutes to do so you can do it for the summer and take it out in the winter

from what i know
this is so that your car will warm up faster
it runs coolant through the tb so it gets warmer air which allows it to warm the motor up faster

This is not quite right. As it was explained in that mod thread, the TB coolant line is like a "carb heat". It warms up only the TB and provides the Idle Air Control system a way to monitor the TB temp (by sensing the coolant temp that just went through it). Below a designated temp, the IAC maintains a high cold idle. Warming up the TB doesn't warm up the car or the motor any faster. It prevents manifold icing and helps to stabilize idle via the IAC.

I'm aware of that to the fullest extent. I was just wondering if it would safely help the engine receive cooler boost.
