The best free mod is to remove the airbox cover. You'll get almost exactly the same hp change as you would by spending $300-$600 on the RM or Injen CAI.

About -5hp I think

Honestly! Take out the black radiator gide! I took it off and anything over 30mph I felt a improved acceleration. Air cleaner is nice too.

Back Yard Special has a plate that is like 150ish and fits over the intake of the stock box. P-flow can bore out your TB for about 6 hp.

Maybe I should just race at night being that the sunlight will now affect performance.

lol, no no black cars do better with the sun in front of them and silver cars do better with the sun behind them.

But Im not sure which is better, light being absorbed and using radiant heat as propulsion or using reflected light?!

Some would attest to RED being the best but that may be because is is somewhere neutral when compared to silver and black.

ummmm

For example free mods on my TA gave me almost an additional 15-20 hp at the rear wheels. I know that Honda did a supurb job engineering the S2K, but there has to be something, somewhere that they missed that can be modified for cheap to squeeze out a few extra ponies. So has anybody found any hidden horsepower yet?
Take out the spare tire, tool kit, lose your own weight,
junk the passenger's seat,etc

Silver S2k Guy,

Enjoy your new S2000! I had a 97' Mustang Cobra with exhaust, pulleys, K&N FIPK, and ported MAF. My Cobra made 255HP and 255FT/LB when stock and 285HP and 285FT/LB with about $750 worth of mods. My MAF porting was free, as I did it myself, and was good for about 6RWHP. Unfortunately nothing like that exists on the S2000. Let me give you a few stats about your Trans-Am vs. your S2000 to explain the difference.

HP per Liter

Thanks for all your responses. I guess I just found it hard to believe that a car could come from the factory with every little bit of free power squezed out of it but after taking delivery of my S2000 I have realized that this car truely is a mechanical marvel as I've heard it called in several reviews.

You want a free mod???? open up your air box and remove the big divider panel between the filter and the opening. Also remove the guide tube on the top of the filter lid as you will not need this any more. While you are at it, you can block off the resonator in the filter housing as well! This does not make that big of a difference, but hey, its free!
