RED MX5, do you like my kitty?
Hahaha, yea, it looks to me as if he might be working out for some of that Cool Cat-Racing.

Here's one of our kitties after a hard day at the track.

Cattle prod?

Our cats make free mods to the S2000 when they walk on it with muddy feet.

Hahaha, free mods. Many moons ago one of the automotive magazines took a big car with a big engine, probably a Cadillac, and took it to the strip to test free mods. Basically they started stripping the car bit by bit, until it was just a frame with an engine and driveline. I think the driver was sitting on a wooden crate or some such. Anyway, you could make an S2000 a lot quicker in the quarter mile if you removed and cut away as much of the bodywork as possible, and stripped off everything that wasn't needed to keep the car running. For example, you could remove the alternator, since the battery will last for a quarter mile.

I actually thought about doing the same thing with our old Jag before getting rid of it.

I still plan on becoming a member because I too belive that there is a value to be had here. I was only really ranting like that because a fellow S2000 owner has had nothing but bad experiences here. He is a little new to sports cars and very new to DIY, so he relies on people like most of us to help him learn. Unfortunately he just got the run around of "SEARCH" and "BEEN POSTED" and it really turned him off. He now relies on me for all his help. And then there is a co-worker of mine that says that when he had his S that some of the members were harsh to him as well. As for me, I don't really care what the people are like..... I am here for the info! And if I make a few friends in the process then that is great too!

Good. I get irritated too sometimes, but we don't need to let it deprive us of the benefits of this resource. Welcome to S2kI!

A $6 mod would be.... Reroute the coolant line, instead of going through the throttle body, to go around and skip it instead. Go to the auto department store, and buy 18inches of 1/4inch coolant line($2). 2 nipple covers to block throttle body coolant lines ($2). 4 clamps 2 to insure nipple covers stay put and 2 to make sure new coolant hose stays put($2).

sounds great. But is there a down side to this mod? I remember that on an old Mustang 5.0 I used to have that this was a popular mod that they found latter that lost power. I guess it ran so cool that the EGR would stay open longer because the ecu thought that the car had not warmed up and in turn was just dumping hot exhaust into the intake. I have thought about trying it out on the S, but I was unsure.
