Default Front and side grill and Mugen CAI

Does anyone have the Coastal metals front and side grill and the Mugen CAI? I've heard from someone that the grills restrict airflow to the intake and lose performance. Can this be true?

Think about it logically. You have an opening and you then block that opening with something. Naturally there will be restrictions.

Yeah...I've been thinking about it, but I would like to get the Coastal Metal grills and would like to hear from someone that has or had that combination.

I agree with turbo_pwr... it has to restrict airflow logically.

Now... if you're talking about the faux SIDE air intakes, then yes... it would increase airflow as they are covered up. But it would decrease performance to put them on the main center air intake.

I have grille-tech side grills over my faux air ducts (well they're not faux anymore!) I made a little scoop out of aluminum flashing to deflect air from the undercarriage into the intake air filter as well as cut a big old hole on the radiator side of the plastic shroud. Combined with the little bit of airflow not being directed to the brake cooling ducts I am getting plenty of cool air into my intake.

Actually... opening the faux side air ducts would HELP performance either way (it would help more if you did not put on any grille though) because the cooler the engine (within reason) the better the performance.

Dammit... i read a thread somewhere that actually had a pic of WHERE the air through the faux air ducts goes into the engine bay, but i can't find it :-/

anyone?

Oh, BTW, my post is only referring to the main grille in the front, not the faux side vents. (Just to clear any confusion)
