Front Upper A Arm Mounting Points
Hi all, I was wondering what part of the car the front upper a arms mount to. It seems the mounting points on my right upper a arm is shifted resulting in the upper a arm not being parallel to the floor. Thanks!

If an oil canning or popping noise is heard when cornering or braking hard, visually inspect the frame rail where the front upper control arm-mounting bracket is spot welded to the frame rail. This problem only occurs to vehicles that have been driven repeatedly on a racetrack or in autocross events. If there is a gap
between the mounting bracket and the frame rail, use the following repair procedure:
� Bend the frame rail in towards the center of the car by placing a block of wood on the bracket spot welds and hitting the block with a large hammer.
� Remove the paint from the bracket and the adjoining frame rail.
� MIG weld the mounting bracket flange to the frame rail
� Refinish the paint to prevent corrosion.

The front upper A-arm is not supposed to be parallel to the ground when the car is level. It is part of the suspension's design geometry. A repair may be necessary if the brackets start to tear away: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/219...-arm-brackets/
I have done this preventatively on my '03- i had no separation. It cost me $60 in welding skills by my local connection. He came to the house after i had prepped the area extensively. I removed the upper control arms from the frame rail, but left them connected to the ball joint.
remove all the undercoating in the seam area to be welded.
remove all the paint from the seam area to be welded- try to remove every bit of undercoating from the inner seams etc.
clean the area of residual solvents, oils etc- you can't weld dirt.
after it was welded I cleaned the area, banged off the welding flash, scraped the area clean again, shot it with primer, then painted it, then reundercoated the areas. Reinstalled the UCArms and torqued them to spec with the arms at ride height.
all told, it took me about 8 hours of work total.
