Fuel "cutoff" at high RPM?
Hi all.
Tonight I was messing around with an E46 M3 Convertible. My gas light had been on for a while and I had no bars left. When I filled up after what I'm just about to explain, it filled up a little over 12 gallons. Okay.... First run, we both went off the line going up a slight incline. As I approach 8k RPM, the car just stops accellerating. Shift into second gear, same thing. Shift to third, same. Next light, still an incline, we both take off and I have the most beautiful launch I have ever had with my car in it's current setup. First gear goes perfect, shift to second gear, going going and then it stops accellerating again. Heres the thing, I had about 1.5 gallons of fuel in the tank. Is it a possibility that since we were on an incline, and the g-forces from accelleration, caused the fuel to rush to the back of the tank making it not possible for the pump to receive any fuel therefore causing the "limiter" feeling? I'd appreciate any suggestions on my matter. Thanks.
P.S. Once I filled up the tank, I tried duplicating the problem a few times and it didn't happen. I know it's a good possibility that it was just the lack of fuel, but I just want to hear it from you other guys to reassure myself
(DAMNIT WHY DO ALL MY BEST RACES GET RUINED SOMEHOW!!! I'VE BEEN WANTING TO HAVE A CLEAN RUN WITH AN E46 FOR A LOOOOOOOONG TIME!!!!!) Rant off.
