Speaking of the fuel gauge, does anyone else have this problem with an AP1 gauge...

I start the car on a level road and the gauge reads 2 bars. I drive down the road, again on a level surface and the gauge reads 3 bars, a couple miles later it reads 4 bars, then it'll read 3 bars, then 2, etc, all on a level road.

I've gotten to the point I don't trust the gauge and refuel asap. I haven't run out yet, but I bet I've been real close.

Also normal gauge operation for a AP1. They are well known for fluctuating below 1/4 tank.

Anything you can do about the dodgy fluctuating fuel guage reading... drives me mad!

Had 4 bars last night, started her this morning and I've got 1...

gauge on my Ap1 fluctuates a lot at low fuel. 2 bar one minute, 3 bar the next, etc. I'm always confident though that I won't run out.. I run it down to zero bars, and I still only fill up 11-11.5 gallons.

The sending unit's resistance changes with temperture. That why you get a different gauge reading when you start the car the next day.

There isn't anything you can do to change it, consider it a design feature.

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me, except that this little light was working yesterday evening. I filled it up last night and all the bars were lit up, yet this morning I noticed the bar all the way to the left (at empty) quit working. I was planning on bringing it to the dealer tomorrow. I'm not understanding how this is considered normal. Could someone pleas enlighten me on that?

Thanks

Take a look again. Ive never seen the last open space before the 'E" ever light up on a 00-03 cluster. Even on the gauge light check when 1st turning the key to "on".
