fuel guage issue- not reading
recently picked up and 07 s2000. Put the motor back in the car after previous owner removed it. When you turn the car on, the fuel gauge display lights all the way up then it will not read the fuel level after it goes throught that beginning start up process. I replaced the fuel sending unit with a used one and the problem persists. I have checked fuses as well. Any other thoughts? This is driving me insane. Thanks in advance
The fuel gauge is driven by the ECU. Got the 2007 ECU in the car? Anyone play with the harness?
The fuel gauge sending unit in the fuel tank is simply a variable resistor with a mechanical float connection and when the gauge reads very low or empty the Low Fuel Light should also illuminate. Does it? My guess is if the gauge reads near empty and Low Fuel Light does NOT illuminate there's an issue with the wiring between the sending unit and the ECU.
There's a whole series of tests in the Service Manual. Been thru them all?
