Fuel Pump Question
Upon removing a 2006 S2000 fuel pump, there appears to be a built in filter unit on top of the pump itself. Also there appears to be a pressure regulator or pressure relief valve mounted to the side of the plastic housing. The regulator appears to return fuel back and directed at the pump wall. Is that the function of this regulator or relief valve?
Also there is a black ground wire leading to the side of the pressure regulator body with a copper contact. What exactly is this for? I can't find anything in the wiring diagrams or shop manual about this pressure relief valve or the ground lead attached. Any help would be appreciated. What's being grounded with this wire?
Here is a photo of the fuel pump. The black wire that loops around to the right is the ground wire. What is the component on the right side of the pump case?
Thanks,
Roy
