Default Gap Between Both Sides of Soft Top and Windows when closed

Hi guys.

I noticed that my soft top does not fully extend over the windows. I can see the rubbers for both the driver and passenger windows when the top is up and I also notice that the windows themselves do not go into the rubbers when closed (not sure if they're supposed to)?

Any advice or quick fixes?

You mean the top of the windows don't touch the top rubbers, leaving a gap?

For that I would expect the windows stops are set too low. Have to remove the door panels to adjust that.

No they touch the rubbers just fine but, the soft top itself doesn't extend over those rubbers like I've seen on other S2K's. Shouldn't the sides of the soft top cover the rubbers themselves?

Sorry, I should have done that in the first place. Here is a pic. Please advise if this is normal?

I just took the pic now and it's unfortunately night time. I hope it's visible enough though.

Thats not right. It almost looks its a hand made top, and they made it too short, width wise.

Previous owner said it's original and it sure looks/feels that way but like you said, the gap doesn't seem right. I thought it shrunk over time as the top apparently was not opened for an extended period of time. Is that possible?

Soft top was installed incorrectly
  • Peel the rubber mouldigs off
  • Unscrew the three screws on each side on the front bow to release the canvas and silver weather strip carrier frame
  • pull the top rubber mouldings off that are poking out
  • reinstall them properly around the frame followed by pulling the canvas around them so it sits correct, hold it in tension
  • relace the silver weather strip carrier frame and three screws on each side of the front bow
  • work the weather stripping back onto their silver carrier frames
