Default Gas cap coming loose...

so i've already thrown a CEL once bc of the gas cap being loose, pretty sure it just happened again. just wondering if there's anything that can be done other than tightening it every wk or something. is there a better aftermarket alternative or anything?

they do wear out after a few years, I'd suggest replacing it. Mine (MY02)was the opposite it got tighter and tighter and I replaced it as it was getting worse to close it. I prefer to stick with a Honda fuel cap but they are overly expensive. I don't know if you can just use an over the counter generic fuel cap on these cars.

I think the problem you're describing jfusion is actually an issue with the gas filler neck. I remember seeing a thing where they would get tight and you can't close the damn cap, mine is doing this.

yeah that is it, but the new cap fits well. I read somewhere guys have sanded down the plastic threads of the caps to help them turn easier. My new cap is much better but it may end up getting tighter over time in which case I may investigate a light modification. I'd hate to replace my fuel filler neck. Honda will rape me for that.

Yeah, i know what you mean... i don't want to replace it either i'd rather mod the gas cap to just thread in without being retardedly hard to turn.

My gas cap also gets loose and throws CEL's. I went to Honda and they wanted $75 for a new one that didn't even say Honda on it. You can by the same one from an Auto Zone for $13.

theres a slight chance that it can be covored under the 8 years 80,000 mile emissions warranty. has anyone tried asking their service writer about it?
