[QUOTE=xviper,Apr 8 2006, 09:50 AM] Just as you are a mechanic and have free dyno access.

Anyways -- so if me & the OP both have 4.57s, but we're revving high on the hwy (and him on the track)...what gives? I have stock sized tires, and they're inflated to the recommended pressures of 35psi. What else would cause this shorter gear ratio?

That's the only variable I can come up with - tires. But ~-1" difference on stock rim/tires? (referencing xviper's number from earlier)
First of all, one shouldn't be comparing rpm to the mph you see on the instrument panel UNLESS you are absolutely sure the correction factor in the speed compensator is precise. You wouldn't really know what your mph is for true.

Let's say there is a discrepancy in tire diameter. A difference of 0.7" would introduce an error of about 3% to the speedo.

The rpm on the stock tach is also an error source. For example, mine reads about 100rpm higher than the display on my VAFC; not sure which is closer, but obviously there's room for error there too.

Crayon, guys, crayon.
